Does Your Installer Hold All Six Certifications?
Run this checklist before signing any contract. Every legitimate Scottish renewable installer should pass all six points.
MCS Certified
Microgeneration Certification Scheme
Required for all funded installations (HES, ECO4) and Smart Export Guarantee registration. Verify any installer at mcsinstallers.co.uk.
RECC Member
Renewable Energy Consumer Code
Deposit protection, binding complaints process, and statutory cancellation rights. RECC members are audited annually.
HES Registered
Home Energy Scotland
Required to access the £7,500 heat pump grant and handle your application. HES solar grants stopped June 2024.
NICEIC / NAPIT / SELECT
Electrical competency accreditation
Scotland's SELECT is equivalent to NICEIC/NAPIT. Required for all inverter and electrical installation work.
Public Liability Insurance
£2 million minimum
Protects you if anything goes wrong on site during or after installation. Always request a copy of the certificate.
Handles G98/G99 DNO

Systems not notified to the DNO block SEG registration. This must be handled by the installer as a standard part of every job.
